Artificial intelligence, know as AI, is integrated in businesses throughout the world including banks, hospitals, and schools. What does the future hold for AI advancement? Will machines and robots one day be able to process information in the same format as a human brain? AI experts predict that by the 2050, AI will be an obvious and important part of human life with daily interactions.

It is believe that within the next 30 years, we will have a complete understanding of the functions of the human brain. This will allow templates of human intelligence to be used in AI. If this is true, then we will see a population of intelligent robots.

The future of AI is controversial. Many believe we should not be moving AI in the direction it is going. The fear is the robots will become smart enough that they will be able to take over the world. Many sci-fi movies have instilled just that into the minds of millions. If they don’t take it over in a war like form, will the take it over by absorbing the job market leaving humans out of many employment fields. Robots have already begun taking over jobs in factories. It is possible they will take over many clerical type jobs in the future. Others worry that robots with human brains will actually be a living form. They then have ethical issues regarding using robots for military operations and fire rescues. When does that line get crossed from being a machine to being a living entity?

Why the push to instill robots with human thinking patterns? After all, humans make errors all the time, especially in judgment. Are we going to turn robots where are currently helpful and fulfill their purpose very well into chaotic pieces of metal that make mistakes as humans do? The scientific world contends that AI is an area where caution should be taken. We can’t predict the future. There is fear that the wrong person with too much knowledge will be able to use AI in damaging ways.

AI is an interesting area of technology and science that continues to grow. The controversy over how it should proceed it very heated. Both sides seem to have valid points regarding the benefits and the possible dangers of AI in the future. It is an area of interest that I plan to follow.
